For Ubuntu 18.04 and higher, simply install it from Ubuntu Software.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/obs-studio-snap-450x283.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"283\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7867\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/obs-studio-snap-450x283.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/obs-studio-snap-768x484.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/obs-studio-snap-600x378.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/obs-studio-snap.jpg 948w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/div><\/div>\n<p>For the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~obsproject\/+archive\/ubuntu\/obs-studio\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">official PPA<\/a> packages, all current Ubuntu releases can do following steps to install the latest OBS Studio.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open terminal either via Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut or by searching for &#8220;terminal&#8221; from app launcher. When it opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:obsproject\/obs-studio<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback) when it prompts and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/obs-studio-ppa-xenial-600x83.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"83\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7599\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/obs-studio-ppa-xenial-600x83.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/obs-studio-ppa-xenial-450x63.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/obs-studio-ppa-xenial.jpg 712w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> <b>For Ubuntu 14.04<\/b> you also need to run command to add another PPA for FFmpeg library:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kirillshkrogalev\/ffmpeg-next<\/pre>\n<p><b>3.<\/b> Now you can install OBS-Studio via <b>Synaptic<\/b> package manager, upgrade the software from an existing release via <b>Software Updater<\/b>, or simply run commands one by one:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:None;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install obs-studio<\/pre>\n<p>Once installed, launch the software from Unity Launcher, Gnome Launcher, or other app launcher and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/obs-studio-gnomelauncher-450x227.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"227\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8685\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/obs-studio-gnomelauncher-450x227.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/obs-studio-gnomelauncher.jpg 491w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Uninstall:<\/h4>\n<p>To remove the software, either use Synaptic package manager or run command in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove --autoremove obs-studio<\/pre>\n<p>To remove PPA repositories, launch <b>Software &#038; Updates<\/b> and navigate to &#8216;Other Software&#8217; tab.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OBS Studio, free live streaming and screen recording software, released version 23.0 recently with many new features.
