Here&#8217;s how to install it in Ubuntu 18.04 and higher.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.flightgear.org\/Changelog_2019.1\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FlightGear 2019.1<\/a> release highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>METAR interpretation: Change CAVOK visibility to 9999.0 metres<\/li>\n<li>Add the ability to control the turbine engines spin down factor<\/li>\n<li>Add the ability to set up the starter and acceleration times of a turbine<\/li>\n<li>Yasim ground friction (stiction) changes<\/li>\n<li>fgcommands &#8220;add-aiobject&#8221; and &#8220;remove-aiobject&#8221; for adding\/removing objects to the AI subsystem.<\/li>\n<li>Support for DDS Texture Cache<\/li>\n<li>New experimental Compositor rendering framework<\/li>\n<li> Some Boeing 777 update, and other more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/flightgear-cockpitview-600x338.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-8403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/flightgear-cockpitview-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/flightgear-cockpitview-450x253.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/flightgear-cockpitview-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/flightgear-cockpitview.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>How to Install FlightGear in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>FlightGear is available in Ubuntu Software by default, but always old. To get the most recent version, you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>either install or upgrade FlightGear via <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~saiarcot895\/+archive\/ubuntu\/flightgear\" target=\"_blank\">PPA repository<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>or install the Flatpak package (runs in sandbox).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i>NOTE: Both PPA repository and Flatpak package are not updated at the moment.
