It gets stuck at purple screen with Ubuntu logo and the dots for quite a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Press <b>F2<\/b> (or Esc) on keyboard when shutting down Ubuntu. It prompts that &#8216;A stop job is running for Snappy Daemon (or some other jobs)&#8217; with a timer (1min 30s) at the end.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-9603\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/stopjobrunning-600x219.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/stopjobrunning.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/stopjobrunning-450x164.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is obviously an issue stopping the snappy daemon. I DON&#8217;T know how to fix the problem unless removing all snap applications and the daemon.<\/p>\n<p>A workaround to this problem is to reduce this timeout, from 90s down to for example 10s.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open <u>terminal<\/u> (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to edit the <code>\/etc\/systemd\/system.conf<\/code> file.<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: none;\">sudo gedit \/etc\/systemd\/system.conf<\/pre>\n<p>For Ubuntu 24.04, replace <code>gedit<\/code> with <b>gnome-text-editor<\/b>, or use <code>mousepad<\/code> for XFCE, <code>pluma<\/code> for MATE, <code>nano<\/code> command line that works for all desktops.<\/p>\n<p>When the file opens, change the line <b>#DefaultTimeoutStopSec=90s<\/b> to <b>DefaultTimeoutStopSec=10s<\/b> and save it.
