It allows you to administer an installation of VirtualBox residing on another machine such as a server, as if it was installed locally. You can also interact with the displays of the guests. This allows you to treat VirtualBox much more like an installation of Xen, KVM or VMware ESX. A summary of some of the features of RemoteBox are listed below.<\/p>\n<p>In this brief tutorial I&#8217;ll show you how to install RemoteBox 1.5 on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring or Linux Mint.<\/p>\n<p>To get started, press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> to open a terminal window for running commands:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/LinuxMintTerminal1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/LinuxMintTerminal1.jpg\" alt=\"Linux Mint Terminal\" width=\"400\" height=\"176\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/LinuxMintTerminal1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/LinuxMintTerminal1-300x132.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then run commands to install required packages:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt-get install libgtk2-perl libsoap-lite-perl rdesktop<\/pre>\n<p>Then download RemoteBox 1.5 (VirtualBox 4.2.X required): <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/knobgoblin.org.uk\/downloads\/RemoteBox-1.5.tar.bz2\">RemoteBox-1.5.tar.bz2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Decompress the downloaded package, and it should result a new folder called <b>RemoteBox-1.5<\/b>. In terminal, navigate to this folder:<\/p>\n<pre>cd ~\/Downloads\/RemoteBox-1.5<\/pre>\n<p>Then start RemoteBox:<\/p>\n<pre>.\/remotebox<\/pre>\n<p>You can right-click on the icon from Unity Launcher and choose &#8216;Lock to Launcher&#8217; to make it easy to launch next time.
