qBittorrent 4.1.7 Released! How to Install in Ubuntu 18.04

qBittorrent Bittorrent client 4.1.7 was released yesterday. Here’s how to install in Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 19.04, and derivatives.

qBittorrent 4.1.7 features:

  • Add 12 hour and 24 hour speed graphs
  • Change “Add new torrent” dialog to horizontal layout
  • Avoid race conditions when adding torrent
  • Fix torrent checking issues
  • Fix torrent properties not saved for paused torrents
  • Some improvements on qtsingleapplication code
  • Remove limits of “Disk cache expiry interval” setting
  • Remove upper limit of “Disk cache” setting

How to Install qBittorrent 4.1.7 in Ubuntu:

The official qBittorrent PPA contains the latest packages for Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, and Ubuntu 19.04.

1. To add the PPA, open terminal either via Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut or by searching “Terminal” from app launcher. When it opens, run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:qbittorrent-team/qbittorrent-stable

Type user password (no asterisk feedback while typing due to security reason) when it prompts and hit Enter to continue.

2. To upgrade from a previous release, launch Software Updater and you’ll see qBittorrent available for upgrade after checking for updates.

Or run commands below to install /upgrade it from terminal:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install qbittorrent

Uninstall:

To remove qBittorrent PPA, go to Software & Updates -> Other Software, or run command in terminal:

qBittorrent 4.1.6 Released! How to Install it in Ubuntu 18.04

qBittorrent torrent client 4.1.6 was released a few days ago. Here’s how to install it in Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 18.10, and Ubuntu 19.04.

qBittorrent 4.1.6 is a bug-fix release with following changes:

  • Force recheck multiple torrents one by one in all possible cases.
  • Don’t query Google for tracker favicons, for privacy reasons
  • Work around the crash occurred in QTimer.
  • Increase the .torrent file download size limit to 100 MiB
  • Disable downloading tracker favicons by default. Works around reported crashes in Linux.
  • WEBUI improvements and fixes.
  • SEARCH: Make num enter key work the same as return in searchjobwidget
  • Make window title bar icon work in Wayland
  • Update appdata.xml file for Linux

qBittorrent 4.1.4 release highlights:

  • Recognize *.ts files as previewable
  • Allow to disable speed graphs
  • Clear LineEdit on ESC
  • Fix divide-by-zero crash
  • Remove speed limit checkbox in Options dialog
  • Fix speed graph “high speeds” bug
  • BUGFIX: Don’t update torrent status unnecessarily

qBittorrent 4.1.1 Released with Socks5 Issues Fixed

qBittorrent BitTorrent client 4.1.1 was released a day ago with important fixes in the version of libtorrent used. It fixes SOCKS5 issues and tracker announces about downloaded/uploaded data.

Changes in qBittorrent 4.1.1 include:

qBittorrent 4.0.4 contains a few new features and lots of bug-fixes include:

  • Add source field in Torrent creator.
  • Torrent creator: raise maximum piece size to 32 MiB

qBittorrent has reached the 3.3.7 release a few days ago. Here’s how to install it in Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.10 via PPA.

qBittorrent 3.3.7 brings new keyboard shortcut Shift+Delete to delete torrent and files, removes KickassTorrents and BTDigg search engine, and updates Torrentz search engine. Also following bugs has been fixed in this release:

  • Fix 6-hour speedplot point push rate.
  • Avoid spawning a new explorer.exe process when selecting “Open containing folder”.
  • Fix loading of new geoip db due to an artificial size limit.
  • Better error handling and logging with smtp communication.

How to Install or Upgrade to qBittorrent 3.2.4 in Ubuntu 15.10

A new release of qBittorrent, a free BitTorrent client in Qt, was released yesterday with a new feature, various bug-fixes and other improvements.

qBittorrent 3.2.4 is the last release in the 3.2.x series. It adds a feature that auto-select the file of single file torrents when opening destination folder, and finally fixes an obscure “hit-and-run” bug with trackers.

  • Fix broken .desktop file icon for some locales
  • Fix Qt5 nox build on non-windows
  • Allow adding torrent link from Torcache
  • Fix crash with invalid favicon.
  • Move option “Ignore transfer limits on local network” to Speed page
  • Move option “Confirm torrent deletion” to Behavior page

Install / Upgrade qBittorrent in Ubuntu:

The new release has been made into its official PPA repository, available for Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, and derivatives, e.g., Linux Mint 17.x and Elementary OS Freya.

1. Add PPA.

Open terminal from the Dash, App Launcher, or via Ctrl+Alt+T shortcut key. When it opens, run command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:qbittorrent-team/qbittorrent-stable

2. For those who have a previous version installed, launch Software Updater (or Updater Manager for Mint, need refresh). You’ll see qBittorrent in the update list

Or run below commands one by one in terminal to update repository cache and install/upgrade the software:
