Firefox 70 Released with New App Icon, Faster JavaScript Interpreter

Mozilla Firefox 70 stable was released with new logo icon, improved page load performance, and other enhancements.

Firefox 70.0 release highlights:

New application icon.
A faster Javascript Baseline Interpreter
WebRender enabled by default on Windows with integrated Intel graphics cards
Complex password generation
Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) enabled by default on all platforms
A stand-alone Firefox account menu
New ‘What’s New’ menu option.
Import passwords from Chrome on macOS
More privacy and security protections.

Download / Install Firefox 70:

Firefox 70 packages will be made into Ubuntu security & updates repositories for Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 19.04, and Ubuntu 19.10.

It will be usually available in a few days. Check this link.

At that time, you can simply upgrade to Firefox 70 via Software Updater.

Firefox 69.0 Released with Enhanced Tracking Protection Enabled

Mozilla Firefox 69.0 was released today. The new release rolls out stronger privacy protections by enabling Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) by default.

Enhanced Tracking Protection blocks third-party sites from tracking cookies and cryptominers. There’s also optional strict setting blocks fingerprinters as well as the items blocked in the default standard setting.

Other changes in Firefox 69.0 includes:

Option to block any video that automatically starts playing
New “New Tab” page experience for users in the US or using the en-US browser
WebRTC conferencing services support for receiving multiple video codecs
Performance and UI improvements to Windows 10
Improved battery life and download UI for macOS.
Various security fixes.

How to Install Firefox 69.0 in Ubuntu:

The new release package has been made into the main repositories for Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 19.04, and their derivatives.

Simply open Software Updater (Update Manager) and install the updates for Firefox.

If you don’t see the Firefox updates, go to Software & Updates and make sure the security and updates repositories are enabled in Updates tab.

Mozilla Firefox 68.0 was released a few days ago with dark mode improvements, new features, and security fixes. Here’s how to install it in all current Ubuntu releases.

Firefox 68.0 release highlights:

Window controls, sidebars and toolbars will be dark with dark mode in reader view.
New reporting feature to report security and performance issues with extensions and themes.
Redesigned extensions dashboard for easy accessing to information about your extensions

Firefox 67.0 Released, Upgrading to Dav1d AV1 Decoder

Mozilla Firefox 66.0 Released with Sound Auto-Play Blocked

Mozilla Firefox 66.0 was released two days ago. Now it’s available in main repositories of Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 18.10.

Firefox 64.0 Released with Enhanced Tab Management

Mozilla Firefox announced new stable 64.0 release a few hours ago with new features and performance improvements.

Mozilla Firefox 64.0 features:

Better recommendations: You may see suggestions in regular browsing mode for new and relevant Firefox features, services, and extensions based on how you use the web (for US users only)
Ability to select multiple tabs from the tab bar and close, move, bookmark, or pin them quickly and easily
New Task Manager page (about:performance) lets you see how much energy each open tab consumes and provides access to close tabs to conserve power
Enable link time optimization (Clang LTO) for Mac and Linux.

Install the Latest Firefox in Ubuntu:

The Firefox 64.0 packages for Ubuntu Linux will be available in 2 or 3 days.

At the time, Firefox snap package (available in Ubuntu Software) will automatic update to the 64.0 release.

To upgrade from the default Firefox packge, launch Software Updater and Firefox 64 package will be there once published.

Firefox 62.0 release highlights:
