Looking for some different icons for your Ubuntu Desktop? Flatery is a flat style icon theme for Linux.

Flatery is a full desktop icons set licensed under the CC BY-NC-SA 3.0. It includes icons for app shortcuts, file folders, menu buttons, and in application icons.

The icon theme is also available in different colors (each contains light & dark mode), including Black, Blue, Gray, Green, Indigo, Mint, Orange, Pink, Sky, Teal, and Yellow.

Download & Install the Icon Theme:

The theme is available to download at github project page.
You can simply click the link below to grab the zip archive:

Then extract the zip archive in your file browser. Install it by moving all sub-folders to:

  • .icons – For single use. In Home folder press Ctrl+H to show hidden file folders. And create .icons folder if it does not exit.
  • .local/share/icons – For KDE desktop.
  • /usr/share/icons – For global use. Gnome users can open the folder via nautilus /usr/share/icons command.

Finally apply the icon theme by Gnome Tweak Tool under Appearance tab:

Suru is an open-source icon theme intends to revive the now-defunct Ubuntu Mobile icon set by bringing the Suru design to a desktop icon set.

The Suru icon theme is only a few weeks old and still heavily in-development, as such there are plenty of icons that are “missing” or incomplete.

You can first take a look at the Suru icon on Gnome Desktop with Dash-to-Dock extension:

How to Install the Suru Icon in Ubuntu:

First download the source from the link below:

Then extract and open source folder in terminal from its context menu:

When the terminal opens, run make install to install the icon theme for your single user usage.

To apply the icon set, run following command in terminal:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme Suru

Uninstall:

To remove the icon theme, open the source folder in terminal (see the previous picture), and run command:

make uninstall

First grab the latest .DEB binary (nitrux-icon-theme_x.x.x_all.deb) from link below:

For KDE user, download the below version instead:

Then click open the .deb with Ubuntu Software Center and install the theme.

To apply the theme, you may use Unity Tweak Tool, Gnome Tweak Tool, Ubuntu Tweak, etc.

Moka is a stylized Tango-esque Linux desktop icon set. They are designed to be a clear, simple and consistent. Despite being a modern theme, Moka does not use vector icons. Instead each icon has been pixel-perfectly-designed in seven sizes for the best result throughout your desktop.


 

Install Moka icons:

Moka icons can be easily installed by running below commands one by one in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) from PPA. Currently supports Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint and their derivatives.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:moka/moka-icon-theme

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install moka-icon-theme

Once installed, apply the icons set via Unity Tweak Tool or Gnome Tweak Tool.

Ios 7 style icons theme for Ubuntu & Elementary OS

This tutorial is going to show you an icon theme called ieos7, which is based on Mac Mountain Lion.

This theme is created for Elementary OS Luna. I’ve tested it on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Unity, and it works.

For Ubuntu 12.04 Precise and Elementary OS Luna, you can install this icons by running below 3 commands one by one in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementary-br/projects

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install ieos7-icons

For other Ubuntu editions, directly download and install the ieos7-icons DEB package from launchpad.net

Once installed, use Unity Tweak Tool, Gnome Tweak Tool or other system tools to apply the theme.

This brief tutorial shows you how to install & use Numix Ubuntu Touch style icons on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy and Ubuntu 13.04 Raring.

Numix is a modern flat theme with a combination of light and dark elements. It supports Gnome, Unity, XFCE and Openbox.

To install this icons, press Ctrl+Alt+T on your keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, run commands to add the ppa:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:numix/ppa

Then update and install:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install numix-icon-theme numix-icon-theme-utouch

Or you can download the Debs from the PPA packages page if you don’t want to add the ppa.

Once installed this theme, use the theme via unity tweak tool or gnome tweal tool. To set the theme in Xfce, run the following commands in Terminal:

xfconf-query -c xsettings -p /Net/ThemeName -s "Numix"
xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/theme -s "Numix"
