Wallpaper competition for the upcoming Ubuntu 25.04, Plucky Puffin, is open! Top 6 winner images will be shipped in the official iso image!

This time submissions are separated into 3 categories: Mascot Theme, Digital / Abstract Art, and Photography. Top 2 voted images in each category will appear in the background settings page in Ubuntu 25.04.

The wallpaper submission started on February 19th, 2025 (UTC), will end on March 5th, 2025 (UTC). All users can vote (need login with a free account) until March 10th, 2025 (UTC).

As before, the AI generated artwork is NOT allowed! Because there are active legal debates on the ownership of AI generated artwork and whether it can be copyrighted or not. And, many popular AI generation tools use a license that does not align with those for the contest.

Other rules include:

• Submitter must own the rights to the image.
• Full quality image must be 3840×2160 px. PNG and WebP recommended.
• No watermark, name or logo in image.
• image licensed as CC BY-SA 4.0 or CC BY 4.0.
