KeePassXC, the community fork of the original KeePass, released new 2.7.12 version today for Linux, Windows, and macOS.

The new version of this free open-source password manager application added some changes to improve the compatibility with other password managers and fixed various issues.

The new version of KeePassXC now set the BE (backup eligibility) and BS (backup state) flags to true for new passkeys. It tells that the passkeys are not restricted to a single device, ensuring other password managers won’t reject the import.

This version also improved Bitwarden import by added nested folders support.

It as well improved the compatibility with KeePass2 by supporting KeePass2 TIMEOTP configuration settings. It’s implemented by adding KeePass2’s {TIMEOTP} as an alias for {TOTP} in auto-type sequence parsing, and renaming/extending the existing TOTP delay test with a {TIMEOTP} placeholder assertion.

The new 2.7.12 also improved the browser integration. It now shows the full URL in browser access dialog via the hover tooltip, and separate the title and usernames in different columns for a better visibility.

As well, it added publicKey to register response that can fix passkey creation on Logitech site, and fixed wrong value in browser integration settings.

  • Fix main entry URL validation when using placeholders.
  • Minor font and theme fixes.
  • And few security fixes.
