Wine development 1.7.9 has been released with Mac driver improvement and various bug fixes. According to the changelog, there are totally 47 bugs fixed, include Need for Speed and foobar2000 issues.
Wine 1.7.9 fixed following bugs:
DirectInput joystick timestamps are wrong
Need for Speed 2 demo fails on startup, claiming “insufficient memory”
foobar2000 with foo_facets.dll: clicking popup menu item to display facets pane/view does nothing

The source is available now. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will be available in Wine PPA (Press Ctrl+Alt+T to open terminal & run below commands to install from PPA):
