After almost a month of development, Kdenlive video editor released a new version with another dozen of bug-fixes.
It’s Kdenlive 24.12.2, the second maintenance release of the 24.12 series. As usual, the official announcement is not ready yet. But the source tarball is out and KDE has announced it as one in the KDE Gear 2024.2.
The new Kdenlive 24.12.2 fixed the spinbox range for title position and size by increasing the default spinbox maximum to 99999. The previous default maximum is 5000, and large animated titles (like credits) can easily extend past that number. You could still place them outside that range but you then get no feedback or fine control via the spinbox of their precise position.
The release also reassembled proxy profile elements in the correct order after validation, which fixed error when adding an external proxy preset with multiple profiles.
Other changes include backport fix for invalid file names in custom effects, fixed the issue that custom Effects with a colon in the name are not retained, as well as:
- Fix FFmpeg for STT not found on Mac since Path of python script has changed since 24.08.1.
- Fix rendering progress not shown when rendering a zone.
- Fix possible crash on exit.
- Fix effects layout broken on resize.
- Rescale 48-apps-kdenlive.png to 48×48 while it was 64×64.
- Added 2 decimals for the rotation parameter (addresses bug #498586)
- Ensure vidstab external files are correctly listed and archived.
- Ensure built-in effects reset button is enabled.
- Fix effect stack widget not properly resizing.
- Don’t try to delete ui file elements on subtitlemanager close.
- Fix Kdenlive flatpak downloads whisper model to wrong location.
- Better fix for expand library clips broken with proxies.
- Fix crash when setting empty name for folder.
- Don’t try to update monitor overlay if effect is disabled.
