The wallpaper competition for Ubuntu 26.10, Stonking Stingray, is now open for submission! Top TWO of the 3 categories will be included in the .iso images.
Everyone can participate, by either submitting an image taken from a camera or made by digital creative tools, or just voting your favorite ones!
And, you can get cool wallpaper images there that are free for both personal and commercial use.
Ubuntu 26.10 Snapshot 2, the second monthly development release, was officially announced last night!
The new development release finally added back the .iso image for Intel/AMD platform, and, introduced new cdimage download tree.
Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, is making a new speech to text application. Ubuntu 26.10 is expected as the first release to include it.
The new app is named myna, a bird that’s known for its ability to mimic human speech.

Ubuntu 26.10, the next Ubuntu version planned for October 15, is finally available for testing on AMD and Intel PCs / laptops.
The development of Ubuntu 26.10, code-name Stonking Stingray, was started in last month. It however lacked the .iso desktop image for testing on modern amd64 platform, even in the first snapshot release.
Ubuntu MATE, the official Ubuntu flavor features MATE desktop environment, will quite possibly have a 26.10 release few months later in October!
As you may know, the prior team lead stepped down thus there’s no Ubuntu MATE 26.04 LTS release.
The first monthly development release, Ubuntu 26.10 Snapshot 1, is available to download!
Ubuntu developer team announced this snapshot last night, though a few images are missing, including Ubuntu 26.10 Desktop image for modern Intel/AMD platform.
Ubuntu 26.10, the next Ubuntu version that’s scheduled for October 15, targets to use Linux 7.2 as the default Kernel.
