  1. I installed the software as you suggested and I get the HP Icon on my desktop but when I go through the Device Manager, it states NO DEVICE FOUND… What can I do from here?

  2. following up again, I get device not found and then on the terminal I get the comment

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py:127: RuntimeWarning: PyOS_InputHook is not available for interactive use of PyGTK
    set_interactive(1)

  3. I have the same problem, “NO DEVICE FOUND” with USB cable for HP C4480 printer.
The connection works – I put a memory card in the printer and the computer can read it.

  4. I note that it says:

error: ubuntu-13.10 version is not supported, so all dependencies may not be installed. However trying to install using ubuntu-13.04 version packages.

It managed to find my 1312 network printer, but was unable to communicate with the device. Just kept repeating this and saying “Please check the device and try again.” but the device is working with older driver on my laptop. Seems a bit unstable for use 13.10.

  5. I am unable to enter my password in the terminal. Therefore the installation cannot be completed. I really am gobsmacked how difficult it is to install a printer.

  6. Works like a charm on 13.10 and a HP 2540. Cheers!

  7. Installed Linux Mint 16 Mate. Installed all drivers for printer. When I go into Printers my printer shows up as unknown. I follow the instructions and add my printer. When trying to print a test page nothing happens. Printer is an HP 1050.

  8. Jon,

    I can not say…Works like a charm on 13.10 and a HP 2540. Cheers!
