Deepin 23 Released Beta 3 with AI Plugin, More i386 Devices Support

Deepin, the popular Linux Distribution from China, announced the last Beta of version 23 this Friday!

Deepin is a Linux Distro so far based on Debian ‘Stable’ branch, features Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE) that is built on Qt toolkit. It’s a free open-source system that has a very attractive desktop appearance.

Start in version 23, which is still in development, Deepin is going to be independent Linux Distribution. In the beta, it’s no longer depends on Debian or any other Linux, but still uses .deb and apt for installing and managing software packages.

The installer for Deepin 23 Beta3 is improved to be adaptive for different screen resolutions, including 768P, 1080P, 2K, and 4K. It added drivers support for certain i386 devices support, though without 32-bit download at the moment, due to human and resource limit.

The release introduced UOS AI plugin, available in system tray. User can communicate with it using text or voice. And, it can answer user questions and generate images based on user description.

Deepin 20.2 Released with Linux 5.10 & 5.11 Dual Kernels

Deepin, a beautiful Linux distribution based on Debian stable, released version 20.2 a day ago.

Deepin 20.2 features the LTS Kernel 5.10 and stable Kernel 5.11. In Grub boot menu, you can select to boot either Kernel as you want.

The new release now integrates the Debian 10.8 stable package repository. Thanks to code optimization, you will get less memory occupation for core apps, faster response, enhanced system performance, and smoother user experiences.

Also, Deepin 20.2 introduced a Downloader app with multiple download protocols support, including HTTP(s), FTP(s), BT, magnet link, etc. And the downloads are extremely fast.

Other changes in Deepin 20.2 include:

Improved multi-display support.
NTP configuration via a graphical interface.
Full-text search support for the File Manager.
The movie player now supports Avs2 format.
The image viewer now supports TIF and TIFF formats.
The System Installer now supports for integrating NVIDIA drivers for notebooks during the installation.
Other core apps updates and improvements.

Ubuntu based Linux Distro ‘Deepin 2014.2’ (Final) Released

The final release of Deepin 2014.2, an Ubuntu 14.04 based Linux Distro, is out today!

Deepin is a Chinese Linux Distro that officially supports over 20 languages, it uses its own Deepin Desktop Environment developed based on HTML5 technology, with Deepin Music, Deepin Movie, Deepin Store and other Deepin system software. In addition, deepin comes with media codecs, Adobe Flash Player, Google Chrome, and other software pre-installed under license by the relevant manufacturers.

A great new feature in this release is that a deepin special version of CrossOver is pre-installed, allows to run Windows applications with CrossOver for free.

For Chinese users, the 2014.2 release brings QQ6.7, 360 security guard for Linux, and the latest versions of WPS, Google Chrome, and more.

System Requirements:

minimum system requirements: Intel Pentium IV 2.0GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 10GB Hard Drive.
recommended requirements: Intel Core 2 2.0Ghz CPU, 2GB RAM, 20 GB Hard Drive.

NOTE: It’s not recommended to run Deepin OS as a guest OS since Compiz Window Manager has poor performance in virtual machines.

Ubuntu 13.04 based Linux Deepin 2013 released [Screenshot Tour]

Linux Deepin 2013, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring based Linux distribution was released today. It brings Game Center, Face Recognition, Deepin Terminal and other new features, improvements as well as bug fixes.

As you may know, Linux Deepin (previously Hiweed Linux) uses a highly customized GNOME Shell as the default desktop environment. It was initially created for Chinese users only, but there are now ISO images for English language.

What’s New in Linux Deepin 2013:

Deepin Terminal is shipped as the default terminal emulator for Linux Deepin 2013. The features of Deepin Terminal include vertical and horizontal split, workspace switching, SSH connection tool, font resizing and background transparency adjustment, etc.

Deepin Game Center is a platform for online flash games. It aspires to give flash game lovers a one-stop experience. Unfortunately, games are mostly in Chinese.

In Linux Deepin 2013, you can choose to log in using face recognition.
